Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette (nee Lazzara) Peters is an American singer and actress. She has appeared in films, television, musical theatre , and individual concerts as well as on recorded recordings. Her career spans more than six years. Critically well-known Broadway performer, she has received seven Tony Awards nominations, winning two (plus an honourary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations. She was awarded three. Grammy Awards have been won in four of the Broadway casting albums in which she has starred.



 



 Many believe Peters to be the best Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is particularly well-known for her performances on Broadway including Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
